FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What exactly do you mean by zero-waste packaging?

A: All of our products are either sent to you in home-compostable packaging (kraft paper, plant based cellophane bags, 100% compostable product labels), or where that isn't feasible, we use glass jars and metal lids so you can repurpose them when you're finished enjoying the product. Please be sure to store your products someplace dry and dark. These packaging materials are meant to break down in the elements, and won't withstand hanging out in a humid bathroom for long. You're also welcome to transfer any product packaged in a compostable pouch to the airtight container of your choice.

Q: What about your shipping materials?

A: All of our shipping materials, from the packing tape to the adhesive on our ink-free shipping labels, are also home-compostable or recyclable.

Q: Do you ship internationally?

A: Not at this time, but we hope to be able to expand our operations as the business grows.

Q: What is the point of putting my Salt Steep in the Steeping Bag? Isn't that unnecessary?

A: This may seem like an odd thing to do because the salts themselves will completely dissolve. However in addition to the salts, we also include a lot of amazing botanical powders to enhance your soak, and many of those are not completely water soluble and would float around your tub if given the chance. Putting the Salt Steep in the bag helps contain those tiny plant particles while still allowing them to release their plant-y goodness into the water and benefit your skin.

Q: Are your products vegan?

A: Our infusions, steamers and belly butter are 100% vegan, but our soaks and some of our bombs, melts, masks and lotion bars include organic raw honey, beeswax or buttermilk powder.

Q: What is the shelf life of your products?

A: We don't add any unnecessary preservatives, so our products are not meant to last forever. That said, being diligent about contamination will definitely extend the life of your products. Be sure that water is not introduced into any of the masks or scrubs, use clean scoops to get products out of their containers and always close packages promptly and tightly, and store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. Bath Bombs, Steamers and Bubble Bars should be used within 3-6 months for maximum fizz and scent, and because Bloom Brews are botanical, they are best used fresh. Everything else should be good for at least 6 months when stored correctly.

Q: You don't seem to add whole plants to anything other than the Bloom Brews. Why is that?

A: We believe that the last thing you should have to do after a deeply relaxing bath is deep clean your bathtub. While floating flower petals and lavender buds in the tub may seem like a delightfully whimsical experience at first, spending 20 minutes fishing them out of the water so the drain doesn't get clogged isn't our idea of a good time.

Q: What is emulsifying wax?

A: Emulsifying wax is used to bind water and oil together in natural skincare formulas to keep them from separating. We use it in our Bath Melts to keep the nourishing oils mixed in with the water, where they can be absorbed by the skin, instead of sitting on the top and creating the dreaded ring around the tub. Derived from vegetables, emulsifying waxes are considered a safe addition to natural skincare preparations.
